Farming with Goats

At Yacolt Mountain Farm and Nursery, goats are an integral part of the system. In an ecosystem where weeds, brambles, brush and dense forest grows naturally, goats who love to eat this diverse roughage are a great fit.

The goats sustain our family with milk and meat and potentially more as we learn to value all aspects of this helpful farm animal.

We do not sell goat products but do sell live goats to keep our herd at a sustainable size for our land. This is where we would like to showcase some of our goats and find potential new goat owners for our multiplying herd.

Mixed breed goat herd

Meet Wolf our Kiko buck. Although he is as stinky as any good buck, we like him because of his low maintenance, highly resilient characteristics.

We will be looking to sell him in 2024 as we always need to change bucks in the years that I keep the daughter offspring.

Kiko bucks are hardy and have large horns as Wolf is showing off in this picture.

The buck gets to hang out with the ladies in the Fall.
